My Future Career
Since
junior year of high school, I decided that when I “grow up” I want my profession to be something that I will enjoy
and look forward to doing every day. When I was younger I wanted to be a lawyer but all the reading associated with that job
made me realize I would not like it very much. One day I was told to name a few things that made me happy, those three things
were people, music and Walt Disney World. Bewildered at what I could possibly
have as a profession, I decided to explore what profession would include one or two of the things that make me happy in life.
That’s when I stumbled upon Public Relations.
Public
Relations is a job that offers a wide range of opportunities. For just about every business there is a PR for it, also known
as communications/promotion. My dream is to work in PR for a musician, record label or some affiliated music company. I would
love to promote music. If a person has what it takes to become the next Elvis it is up to a PR agency to make their career
happen and get their name out there. This makes a job so much fun, booking concerts, parties, TV/Radio appearances. It becomes
your job to make sure that this person’s name is put out there and in the end of this musician has what it takes to
be liked by the public eye a PR person will know that their job was done well by getting this person to where they need to
be to become successful.
If
I could get one job when I get out of college it would be to work with the Lizzie Grubman Public Relations group. Her company
is based out of New
York City and promotes big names such as Britney Spears, N sync, Ja Rule, hot spot clubs, bars, and
restaurants in NYC, MAC cosmetics, and so many other big name places. To have a job with
this company is any one who aspires to have a job in entertainment PR’s dream. To find out more about Lizzie Grubman

I know that a job at such a place is extremely
selective, so I considered hopefully working for a job with some assorted affiliation with Walt Disney World, a job big or
small. If none of these two types of positions worked out I would push for a job working for promotion with radio stations.
Therefore I would still be involved with communications in the music business. I can see spending the rest of my life being
a “people person” in this industry.
When
it came time to pick where I want to go to college I learned that the University
of Florida is top in the nation for its college in Journalism and Communications.
So my dream and goal right now starts here in Gainesville
where I hope to attend the University of Florida.
I hope that this will be the road to my success in Public Relations.
